Got that going for me.
Tickets booked for October 2, 2012. 9am. Pending an American Airlines cancellation (wholly possible these days) off we go!
Currently living at my parents' home in Woodridge, IL. With my husband, 3 year old, and 1.5 year old. It's delightful. Actually, it's not that bad, due in no small part to the fact that my parents are in Europe, knocking around with Rick Steves. That's the way they roll.
Jason has aptly noted that it feels like we are in the witness relocation program. We have been assigned new identities as suburbanites with a Mazda and a Prius, membership to Sam's Club, and easy access to Meijer. It's kind of spooky.
But back to the point. We are moving to Mexico City. !!!
Next week. Tuesday.
Am I ready? Ummmmm....? But here we come.
I will record this experience here for you all to enjoy. Besides the aforementioned family, this is what you need to know:
I speak as much Spanish as Sesame Street taught me in the 70s plus living 5 years in Los Angeles. El pollo loco!
We have a home rented in Lomas De Chapultepec, Miguel Hidalgo, Distrito Federale. It's empty. Our furniture is somewhere between here and there.
We have already hired a maid. Who will live with us. And do the "cooking, cleaning, laundry, and watch the children." For US$150 per week. Week. This is perhaps the single greatest thing ever. As my mom said "you have someone who will clean your floors for you every day." I cannot wait. And as my dear friend Lisa said "what are you going to do when you have to come back to the States and do women's work again?" Don't care. This is my lottery ticket for agreeing to move to Mexico.
Wish me luck. And stay tuned.
